“Finland must immediately apply for NATO membership,” the country’s president and prime minister said in a statement.
Niiniste and Marin also expressed their hope that steps at the national level to join the Alliance would be taken in the coming days.
“NATO membership will strengthen Finland’s security. By becoming NATO membership, Finland will strengthen the entire defense alliance,” the country’s authorities said.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Finland’s entry into NATO would not boost the country’s security. In this case, the Russian military will consider “all necessary measures.”
