In three districts of Moscow, sites have been cleared for the needs of the Russian Defense Ministry, and air defense systems have already been placed in two of them.
The Insider writes that at the end of 2022, one of the sites began to be equipped on the experimental fields of the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy. There is no continuous forest, so the builders simply leveled the ground and filled everything with asphalt. S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) and radar systems (RLS) 92N6E and 96L6E are installed on the site.
Another object of the Ministry of Defense, despite the protests of local residents and environmentalists due to deforestation, appeared in the Losiny Ostrov park-reserve. Local authorities said the work was being carried out to ensure “national security”.
In Losiny Ostrov, there are S-400 air defense systems, a 92N6E radar, as well as a combat control center, probably 50K6A, designed to control air defense systems and interact with other air defense systems and command posts.
According to The Insider, the biggest damage to the environment was caused by construction in the Pechatniki district opposite the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve, where almost 100 hectares of forest were cut down for the needs of the Ministry of Defense. At the same time, the newspaper notes, only one site of five hectares will be allocated directly for air defense. The remaining territories will be occupied by “production sites” for such companies as Gormost, Moslift, OEK, Mosvodostok, Avtodor YuVAO, Moskollektor and others.
Reports of air defense systems in Moscow began to appear in early 2023. In particular, photos of air defense on the building of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and on the roof of an office building on Teterinsky Lane appeared on the network. At the same time, it was reported that air defense systems would be located in Losiny Ostrov.
