The Russians have launched a powerful anti-Ukrainian Facebook campaign, spreading fake stories about the battles for Bakhmut and allegedly reducing military aid from the West.
The Center for Strategic Communications noted that in this way the invaders want to undermine the confidence of the Ukrainian society in the authorities, manipulating the allegedly lost battle for Bakhmut and the fact that the allies will leave the Ukrainians with the enemy to their fate.
A failed attempt to influence Ukrainians is betrayed by an unsuccessful translation of the text from Russian into Ukrainian and Kremlin terms like “Westernizers”, “defeatist sentiments,” the report says.
Ukrainians are urged to complain about such pages on Facebook.
The Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security under the Ministry of Culture spoke about how to recognize the fakes of Russians on the social network.
Analysts stressed that since March 11, the enemy has been distributing ads on Facebook through anonymous channels with the intention of dissuading Ukrainians of victory.
The main messages of propagandists:
- the battle for Bakhmut has already allegedly been lost by Ukraine;
- in the West they don’t seem to believe in Ukraine;
- the command of the Defense Forces “ran away”, and “the guys are repulsed by their own forces”;
- The United States allegedly reduces the supply of weapons, because the Ukrainian authorities “caught” the theft of supplies.
