Sanctions include restricting the movement of individuals across Europe, freezing assets and banning the giving of any resources to people on the list.
EU authorities have extended until September 15, 2023 sanctions against people responsible for destroying or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine. This was reported on the website of the Council of the EU on Monday, March 13.
It noted that the sanctions concern 1,473 people and 205 legal entities, “many of which are targets in response to Russia’s ongoing unjustified and unprovoked military aggression against Ukraine.” They provide for restrictions on the movement of individuals, freezing of assets and prohibition of the provision of funds or other economic resources to individuals and legal entities from the list.
The EU Council said the war unleashed by Russia “is a flagrant violation of the UN Charter and has caused great suffering and destruction to Ukraine and its people.”
“Russia must immediately stop its brutal war. The European Union will unhesitatingly support Ukraine as long as necessary, and will unwaveringly support Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the message said.
Earlier on Monday, journalist Rikard Jozwiak announced the extension of sanctions against Russia. According to him, despite some speculation, nothing was left out of the list.
As you know, on February 25, the EU approved the 10th package of sanctions against Russia. Then the restrictions affected three large private banks – Tinkoff, Alfa-Bank and Rosbank. Their assets on the territory of EU countries will be frozen, transactions with them are prohibited, banks are not connected to SWIFT.
