The International Criminal Court intends to open two cases against Russia for war crimes related to the invasion of Ukraine
It is reported by The New York Times, citing sources.
According to them, the court intends to bring two charges: that Russia abducted Ukrainian children and teenagers and sent them to Russian re-education camps, and that the Russian Armed Forces deliberately attacked civilian infrastructure.
Sources said that the court will require the issuance of arrest warrants for several people. Who will be charged is still unknown. Some experts, according to the New York Times, have suggested that Russian war criminal and dictator Vladimir Putin could face charges.
The newspaper stressed that these are the first international charges that will be brought against the Russians since the beginning of the war in Ukraine.
Recall that the US government has officially established that Russia, after the start of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, committed crimes against humanity. This was announced at the Munich Security Conference on February 18 by US Vice President Kamala Harris.
