Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO is of pragmatic interest for Europe itself, the Foreign Minister said.
Western countries do not need to look to Russia and its current leader, Vladimir Putin, when deciding on Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO. This is what Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said at the Ukraine-Oxford 2023 summit “European Horizons for Ukraine”, the Foreign Ministry reports on Monday, March 13.
“Don’t look back at what they say in Moscow. It’s all over with Putin. He’s put all his cards on the table. He’s bankrupt. But Ukraine must win so he doesn’t get rewarded for all he’s done . .) with strong and timely support from partners,” said Kuleba.
According to him, Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO should not be viewed as charity or ransom, as it is a pragmatic interest for Europe itself.
“Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO will be a guarantee of long-term peace and stability. Instead, uncertainty about Ukraine’s membership is very reckless. Half-hearted decisions, such as keeping Ukraine in around or in the waiting room, can only encourage further Russian aggression, not in the interests of Europe,” said Kuleba.
Recall, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg confirmed Ukraine’s prospects in the Alliance. At the same time, Ukraine’s victory in the war is the only way to integrate the country and fully integrate it into the Euro-Atlantic community.
Stoltenberg also spoke about guarantees for Ukraine. The nation must be strengthened and strengthened to such an extent that it can withstand further aggression.
