Most of the interviewed Ukrainian citizens are sure that the current cooperation between Kyiv and the West is mutually beneficial.
The absolute majority of Ukrainians – 81% – believe that both Ukraine and the West would benefit from cooperation between Ukraine and the West to repel Russian aggression. This is confirmed by survey data of the Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).
A significant part of the respondents – 45% – believe that Ukraine and the West benefit equally. In addition, 29% believe that it is mainly a win for Ukraine, but there is also a win for the West. The remaining 7%, on the contrary, see the advantage for the West, although Ukraine will also win.
At the same time, 9% believe that this cooperation is only for the interests of Ukraine and 4% believe that it is only for the interests of the West.
According to the survey, 82% of respondents agree that Ukraine’s future as a prosperous independent country depends on whether it becomes a member of the EU. 50% strongly agree with this statement. At the same time, 14% disagree with it.
KIIS conducted its own survey on February 22 – March 6, 2023 among respondents in 2007.
The survey was not conducted on the territory of Crimea and Donbas occupied by Russia, as well as on citizens who went abroad after February 24, 2022.
As already reported, the majority of citizens surveyed associate the future of Ukraine with European prospects.
In addition, the majority of Ukrainians (87%) are not ready for any territorial concessions to the Russian Federation, even if it means the continuation of the war.
