Today a section of the European standard road is being built from the Polish village of Grebennoye to the Ukrainian Rava-Russkaya.
Before the end of the year, Ukraine plans to build the first European track, which will connect Lviv and Warsaw. This will allow the launch of direct trains between the cities, writes ukrayina.pl.
Currently, a section of the European standard railway measuring 1435 mm is being built from the Polish village of Grebennoye to the Ukrainian Rava-Russkaya.
“Until the end of 2023, we will continue this section in Lviv with the existing wide gauge. In the future, this will create the possibility to run direct Warsaw-Lviv trains without transfers and without changing the chassis,” said Vladimir Shemaev , director of the office of international projects of Ukrzaliznytsia.
This will help relieve road congestion and increase rail travel. Over time, it was also planned to build new routes from Krakow to Lvov through the Polish village of Mediki and from Dorohusk through Yagodin to Kovel.
“These sites are the most relevant for us, and we will not delay their construction. We are completing negotiations with international financial organizations regarding funds for these investments,” said Shemaev.
Recall that earlier Ukrzaliznytsia launched new international trains from Kyiv and Kharkov, running to the Polish cities of Przemysl, Warsaw and Chelm.
