Alexander Matsievsky, the hero of Ukraine, who was shot by the Russian invaders after the words “Glory to Ukraine”, had Moldovan citizenship.
Chisinau believes that the demonstrative execution of a Ukrainian soldier should be qualified as a war crime and a gross violation of international humanitarian laws. This was officially announced on March 13 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova.
The diplomats expressed their condolences to the family of the hero and expressed their solidarity with the Ukrainian people and condemned the bloody war unleashed by the aggressor country Russia.
We reaffirm Moldova’s tough position condemning Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine. Our country remains committed to supporting Ukraine in its efforts to return to peace and stability, the Foreign Ministry said.
Recall, on March 12, the SBU confirmed that the soldier, whom the Russian invaders shot after the words “Glory to Ukraine!”, is a sniper of the 163rd battalion of the 119th separate brigade of the Territorial Defense of the Chernihiv region Oleksandr Matsiyevsky.
Yesterday, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky awarded Matsievsky the title of Hero of Ukraine.
