The missile launch was a clear sign of North Korea’s protest against another joint military exercise between South Korea and the United States.
North Korea launched an unidentified missile from a submarine on Sunday, March 12. This was reported by the South Korean edition of Yonhap, citing South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).
It was noted that the rocket launch, apparently, was a sign of protest by the DPRK against the next joint military exercises of South Korea and the United States, which should begin this week.
The JCS said they saw a rocket fired from the coastal city of Sinpo on Sunday morning, but did not provide details.
“By strengthening monitoring and surveillance, our military maintains a state of full readiness in close cooperation with the United States,” the JCS said in a statement to reporters.
It will be recalled that last week the leader of the DPRK called on the military to prepare for a “real war.”
Also in the DPRK in a week, ballistic missiles were launched towards the Yellow Sea.
