Czech President to visit Ukraine in April

Former NATO General Petr Pavel was sworn in as president on Thursday and thus officially became the country’s president for the next five years.

Czech President Petr Pavel will visit Ukraine in April, the Czech President’s press secretary, Marketa Rekhakova, said following talks between Pavel and President Volodymyr Zelensky, Ceske Noviny reports.

According to Rekhakova, Zelenskiy asked for a phone call and was interested in having it as soon as possible after Thursday’s inauguration. He wanted to congratulate Pavel on his tenure.

“We discussed a possible visit of President Pavlo to Ukraine and agreed that it will take place in April. It is also about Ukraine’s support from the Czech Republic in the coming months,” added Rekhakova.

Recall that Zelensky also reported on a telephone conversation today on Twitter, according to which the presidents also discussed Ukraine’s integration with the European Union and agreed on further cooperation.

Former NATO General Petr Pavel on Thursday took the oath of office in the Vladislav Hall of Prague Castle (the residence of the head of state) and thus officially became the country’s president for the next five years.
