Former NATO General Petr Pavel on Thursday took the oath of office in the Vladislav Hall of Prague Castle (the residence of the head of state) and thus officially became the country’s president for the next five years.
President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a conversation with the new president of the Czech Republic, discussed Ukraine’s security needs and European integration.
“I spoke with Czech President Petr Pavel. I congratulated him on his official tenure. I informed about the situation at the front, our security needs. We talked about the movement of Ukraine towards the EU. We agreed to continue to actively cooperate. The support of the Czech Republic is important for Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression!” Zelensky wrote on Twitter.

The President of the Czech Republic has already attended a TNMK charity concert in Prague.
Petr Pavel replaced Milos Zeman, who served two terms – ten years.
