Major road accident in Russia, 15 injured

The accident involving trucks occurred as a result of fog and ice on the R-228 highway in the Khvalynsky district.

In the Saratov region of the Russian Federation there was a large-scale road accident involving 21 cars. 15 people were injured, the region’s Health Minister Oleg Kostin said on Telegram on Sunday, March 12.

“A total of 15 victims, 14 were hospitalized, one refused (hospitalization – ed.),” Kostin wrote.

The injured were evacuated by medical transport to Balakovo City Clinical Hospital and Khvalynsk District Hospital. Kostin identified a 14-year-old boy in serious condition with a brain contusion and broken bones. Two adults were sent to the operating room.

A large-scale accident involving trucks occurred as a result of fog and ice on the R-228 highway in the Khvalynsky district. All vehicles are closed in this area.

Earlier this week, a passenger bus collided with a truck in the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation. Three died and nine others were injured.
