In many eastern regions of the Russian Federation, the percentage of losses may be 30-40 times higher than in Moscow, according to British intelligence.
The Russian army is suffering huge losses in the war against Ukraine. This meant a greater separation of the Russian elite from the country’s population. This was reported by the British Ministry of Defense in Twitter on Sunday, March 12.
British intelligence recalled that on February 21, during the speech of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the front rows of the audience were occupied by Russian officials and the elite. But it is known that their children are not fighting in Ukraine. And this fact motivates the population of Russia, especially in the regions where the rate of loss is the highest.
“In many eastern regions, the percentage of deaths is probably 30-40 times higher than in Moscow. Ethnic minorities are the hardest hit; in Astrakhan, about 75% of victims are Kazakh and Tatar minorities,” the report said.
As the Russian leadership continues to recruit Russians into the army to throw them into Ukraine, the elite of the aggressor country is becoming increasingly isolated.
“As the Russian Ministry of Defense seeks to address the ongoing shortage of combat personnel, alienating the more affluent and influential segments of Russian society is likely to remain a top priority,” British intelligence said.
It will be remembered that for two consecutive days Russia is losing more than a thousand soldiers killed in Ukraine. The total death toll is approaching 160,000.
