The Ministry of Culture announced that representatives of the UOC-MP will be held criminally liable in the case of the loss of movable property.
In the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, after the departure of the UOC-MP, an audit of valuable objects in the museum, including the relics of saints, will be conducted. This was announced on the air of the telethon on Saturday, March 11, by the Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko.
He noted that more than 800 museum exhibits, including the relics of saints, are stored on the territory of the Kiev-Pechersk complex. All these values were transferred to the monks for use, and now they will undergo a separate revision.
“I want to warn… The last revision was in 2018, and it’s all recorded, all things are on the list. Any step that UOC-MP representatives can take regarding movable property, museum exhibits proper, will be recorded, and they will be held criminally liable,” he said.
According to him, the interdepartmental commission came to the conclusion that on the part of the UOC-MP in the Lavra “there were violations of the use of property, and quite a lot of them, including new buildings on the territory of the Lavra when without the appropriate permits, and more.”
Tkachenko also noted that the ministry saw the possible refusal of the monks to leave the territory of the Lavra on March 29, so representatives of the SBU and the Ministry of Internal Affairs were involved in the commission.
Recall that the monks of the UOC-MP are obliged to leave the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra until March 29.
