Law enforcement officers note that on February 23, 2014, the former president acted together with the head of his security service and representatives of Russia. Using Russian Navy aircraft and sea, he twice illegally crossed the Ukrainian state border and transported at least 20 people through it to a neighboring country.
“On the same day, the former president, while on the territory of the military unit of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation in the area of Cossack Bay in Sevastopol, prompted the military personnel of the State Security Department of Ukraine. , which directly performs tasks of providing his personal protection, in evacuation,” the prosecutor’s office said. .
The former president was charged with organizing illegal migration of people across the state border of Ukraine and inciting desertion (part 2 of article 332, part 4 of article 27, part 1 of article 408 of the Code in Criminal of Ukraine).
