Rents for the new homes will be around $800, according to WSJ interviewees, at a time when a month’s rent in the state now costs about $2,200.
The purchased plots already have a group of modular houses, a swimming pool, an outdoor sports ground and a gym, WSJ wrote, citing photos on social networks and interlocutors who visited the construction site of the future city.
It is known that Musk has already come up with a name for the city of the future – Snailbrook. And in the past three years, organizations linked to Musk’s companies or top executives have acquired at least 1,400 acres of land near Austin, nearly four times the size of New York’s Central Park.
Under Texas law, a city must have at least 201 residents before it can apply to register and then get approval from a district judge. Bastrop County has not received applications from Musk or any of his organizations, according to a state spokeswoman.
