The Russians are building illegal structures and interfering with the operation of heat and power supply systems at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
Russian aggressors are trying to change the design state of nuclear installations at Zaporizhzhya NPP. Acting spoke about it. Oleg Korikov, Chairman of the State Inspectorate for Nuclear Regulation of Ukraine (SINRU), reported Ukrinform on Thursday, March 9, 2023.
“There is an unauthorized change in the state of design of nuclear installations at ZNPP. The attackers are illegally interfering with the operation of the heat and power supply systems and building unknown structures near the reserve power plant of block No. 6,” said Korikov.
According to him, the internal crisis center at the NPP site has been dismantled and the Russian military is always stationed there, which is why it cannot perform its duties. The external crisis center located in Zaporozhye has no actual connection. That is, information about the security state of ZNPP does not reach there, because the invaders have disabled this communication.
“It is not yet realistic to assess the amount of damage caused by the occupation, this will be shown by the analysis after the work. However, today we are not talking about the risk of decommissioning due to the damage caused by the occupation. We have something that has not been lost of hope for the plant to return to safe operation after de-occupation,” added the head of the State Nuclear Regulatory Commission. .
Recall that on the night of March 9, the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant was completely de-energized as a result of rocket attacks by the Russian Federation. The station lost half a day for the sixth time during the occupation.
The IAEA Director General made a statement regarding the de-energization of the ZNPP. And 49 countries demanded the withdrawal of the Russian military from the ZNPP.
