The head of Slovakia’s Ministry of Defense (MO) said that Warsaw has agreed to transfer its MiG-29s with Bratislava.
Poland agreed to a joint transfer of MiG-29s to Ukraine with Slovakia. Now it is time for Bratislava to make a decision on this issue. This is what the Minister of Defense of Slovakia Jaroslav Nagyna said on his Facebook page.
“I confirm that Poland has officially agreed to send MiG-29s together,” the official said.
According to him, at a meeting of EU defense ministers on Wednesday in Sweden, the head of the Polish defense ministry said that Warsaw would agree “to the joint development of Slovakia and Poland in the transfer of surplus MiG -29 of both countries in Ukraine.”
The Slovak minister also recalled that the president of Poland, in an interview with CNN, confirmed his country’s readiness to act.
“I think it is time to make a decision. People are dying in Ukraine, we can really help them, there is no place for Slovak politics. It is inhumane and irresponsible,” insisted Nagy.
Recall that Slovakia is considering the possibility of providing Ukraine with 10 of the 11 Soviet-made MiG-29 aircraft, which were withdrawn from service last year.
It should be noted that, according to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, the initiative to transfer Western fighters to Ukraine already exists, so it remains only to organize an “aircraft coalition.”
