This confirms the removal of part of Russian units from the Kharkov region against the backdrop of heavy losses.
The removal of Russian troops from the Kharkiv region is a secret admission to the inability of the Russian Federation to capture major cities of Ukraine. This is stated in the report of the British Ministry of Defense, published on May 12.
It was noted that Ukrainian forces were continuing counterattacks north of Kharkov and moving towards the Russian border.
“The priority of Russia’s operations in the Donbas has made the units assigned to the Kharkiv region vulnerable to mobile and highly motivated Ukrainian counterattack forces,” the British military stressed.
As a result, Russian troops withdrew from the region to reorganize and replace forces after severe losses, despite success in the siege of Kharkov in the early stages of the war.
According to British intelligence, these units are likely to be deployed on the eastern bank of the Seversky Donets River to protect the western part of Russia’s main forces and supply routes in the Izyum region.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky said the Armed Forces of Ukraine was pushing enemy units away from Kharkov.
According to the Institute for the Study of War, the counter-offensive of Ukrainian troops north of the city approached the Russian border within 10 km.
