Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov blames Ukraine for the fact that agreements on the subject of the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant “were not reached.”
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said there had never been any talk of any demilitarization of the Zaporizhzhya NPP. He claimed that an agreement on the creation of a security zone at the station was close, but “the Ukrainian side blocked it.” This was reported by the Russian propaganda agency TASS.
According to Lavrov, the Russian Federation regrets that UN Secretary General António Guterres “signed under the unilateral demands of Kyiv in this regard.” He noted that during his next visit to Kyiv, “Guterres linked the topic of exporting grain and fertilizers to agreements with prisoners of war and the need to demilitarize the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.”
“No one spoke about any demilitarization, except for Ukraine itself. I regret that the Secretary General of the UN, while in Kiev, unambiguously, in fact, signed precisely under the unilateral demands of the Ukrainians, although, of course, according to the UN Charter, as the head of the administrative entity, he should take a neutral position. He failed to do it again,” Lavrov stressed.
Lavrov blames Ukraine for the fact that agreements with the ZNPP “were not reached.”
“The director general of this agency has been promoting an agreement on declaring ZNPP as a nuclear safety zone for several months now. We actively cooperated with the director general, the agreement is close, we are ready to support it, it was blocked of Kiev “said Lavrov.
Recall that Energoatom reported that Zaporozhye NPP was completely de-energized as a result of Russian Federation rocket attacks. On Thursday evening, the occupied station’s last line of communication with the Ukrainian energy system was disconnected.
The Director General of the IAEA made a statement regarding the de-energization of the ZNPP
