More than a thousand protesters against the bill on “foreign agents” gathered near the parliament building in Tbilisi. This was reported on March 8 by the TASS agency.

The country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the detention of 66 oppositionists who participated in the rally.
The EU has warned Georgia of “serious consequences” if the law is finally passed, while the US has threatened sanctions.
Leader of the ruling party Georgian dream Irakli Kobakhidze said the controversial bill was sent for review to the Venice Commission. Its discussion in Parliament will continue only after receiving the conclusions.
