A big Ukrainian offensive is just around the corner, as Western weapons are increasingly reaching the Ukrainian defense forces.
The stream of Western weapons has lately “turned from a stream into a river.” Thus, 40% of all military aid promised by the Pentagon since the beginning of the war arrived in Ukraine in three months, from December 9, 2022. The Economist writes about it.
It is noted that military assistance from the West will lead to the fact that almost a third of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will soon have weapons according to NATO standards. And the arms deliveries agreed at the Ramstein meeting in January account for two-thirds of the total sent to Ukraine for all of 2022. And the US has promised Ukraine the armored bridgelayers it needs for any offensive in the south or east.
Western weapons will allow the Armed Forces of Ukraine to transform. At the end of 2022, the ratio of Ukrainian and Western weapons was five to one, as aid comes in, it is expected to fall to five to two.
The media writes that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny expects that he will have at his disposal three new army corps, each of which consists of six brigades. Each corps will consist of 20 thousand people, trained and armed, we note, according to the standards of the North Atlantic Alliance.
Recall that the publication Politico talked to officials in Washington and reported that the US authorities now see the east of Ukraine as a priority area for the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the same time, the United States does not consider it a wise decision to return Crimea by military means at this stage of the war.
