Donald Trump Jr., son of Donald Trump, is annoyed that Tucker Carlson’s attempt to rewrite the story of the Jan. 6 attack on the United States Capitol isn’t getting much traction on the rest of Fox News.
Carlson, who was granted exclusive access to the Jan. 6 security footage by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), singled out the video to argue that the rioters were basically just “visitors” and not violent insurgents intent on – keeps Trump in power. .
But Carlson’s point didn’t catch on in the halls of Congress, where even GOP lawmakers condemned his claims, or elsewhere on Fox News.
Trump Jr. linked to a report from Mediaite that Carlson’s report “was quietly buried by the network.”
Despite his ties to the Carlson gassing attempt, Trump Jr. acknowledged what was happening as events unfolded on January 6.
“They need to convict this shit asap. The Capitol Police tweet is not enough,” he told then-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, according to messages obtained by the committee on Jan. 6.
Meadows said he was “pushing” Trump to do it.
“We need an Oval Office address,” replied Trump Jr. “He needs to lead now. He went too far and got out of control.
Critics of the former president’s son dismissed his tweet, noting that Fox News has already been sued for $1.6 billion over its other false claims related to the 2020 election and its aftermath.
Some even pointed to recently revealed messages showing that Carlson actually hates Trump Sr. “passionately.”
