Russia’s criminal seizure, export and use of Ukrainian grain violates the basic principles of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
Batch batches of grain sold by the Russian Federation on the international market may partially or completely contain grain stolen in Ukraine. In this warning to potential buyers of grain from Russia on Wednesday, May 11, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spoke.
They noticed that the stolen grain was probably taken from the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine certainly condemns the actions of the Russian Federation to dispose of grain illegally taken from Ukrainian farmers. The Russian occupiers take the grain of Ukraine, send it to their own consumption or tried to sell it in international markets.
The theft of food resources from the territory of an independent sovereign state is one of the manifestations of theft, ”the diplomatic department said.
They stressed that any country that knowingly buys stolen grain “is an accomplice in this crime.”
According to the Ukrainian government, the occupiers have already stolen at least 400,000-500,000 tons of grain worth more than $ 100 million.
“On almost all ships leaving Sevastopol with grain are carrying stolen products of Ukraine,” said the Foreign Ministry.
Russia’s theft of Ukrainian grain was confirmed by numerous testimonies of Ukrainian farmers.
The Foreign Ministry stressed that Russia’s criminal seizure, export and use of Ukrainian grain violates the basic principles of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)-ensuring food security and overcoming hunger.
“Such policy of the aggressor’s state calls into question the benefit of its membership in the FAO and other international organizations. We demand that Russia stop grain theft, unblock Ukrainian ports, restore freedom to navigate and allow the passage of merchant ships, ”the commentary said.
Recall that as a result of a massive invasion, Russia blocked approximately 90 million tons of grain in Ukrainian ports. This figure was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
Since the beginning of the war, Russian occupiers have stolen a total of 400,000 tons of grain crops from four temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine – a third of the stocks stored in these territories.
