The United States will consider its further actions after the conclusion of the investigations, but for now they urge “not to get ahead of ourselves.”
The White House National Security Council urged strategic communications coordinator John Kirby “not to jump to conclusions” regarding the Nord Stream bombing incident in 2022. He said this at a briefing on Tuesday, March 7.
He said this when answering a question from journalists about whether Washington is concerned that the information published by the NYT newspaper could negatively affect public support for Ukraine in Germany and cause “friction” in NATO.
“Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. There are three investigations going on. And they haven’t been completed. As far as I know, none of these three countries have publicly announced that they found out. So, we believe, and the president has said this, that this was an act of sabotage , but we need to complete these investigations, and only then should we consider what further actions are,” Kirby said.
Recall that The New York Times, citing US intelligence, reported that an unknown “pro-Ukrainian group” was probably behind the sabotage of the Nord Stream. In response, the Office of the President said that Ukraine had nothing to do with the Nord Streams accident in the Baltic Sea.
Earlier, the media, citing their sources, said that Russia decided to mothball the Nord Stream and Nord Stream-2 gas pipelines, as there was no plan to repair and implement them.
