Almost all of the freed soldiers were wounded and seriously ill, the Coordinating Headquarters reported.
Almost all Ukrainians freed from Russian captivity on Tuesday, March 7, were wounded or seriously ill. This was stated by the Deputy Head of the Working Group of the Coordination Headquarters Bohdan Okhrimenko on the air of the telethon.
He noted that this exchange became 39 after the full invasion of the Russian Federation. Hundreds of families received good news, their relatives returned – 130 defenders and defenders.
“The state of health, unfortunately, wants to be better, because in this exchange, almost all servicemen have injuries, serious diseases that they received during the struggle for the independence of Ukraine,” said Okhrimenko.
As for the return of civilian Ukrainians, the work continues.
“But civilians cannot be considered prisoners of war, their return must be without any exchange. Because the hostage taking of civilians is another article of the criminal code. In this case, we can talk about terrorism. Detention of civilians is a crime against the civilian population,” explained the deputy head of the Coordinating Working Group headquarters.
Recall that on Tuesday, the Ukrainian authorities achieved the return of 130 servicemen from Russian captivity – 126 defenders and 4 defenders.
