Yuriy Ignat, spokesman for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, noted that Ukrainians learn about the receipt of the Patriot when Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk protests the system while driving, as was the case with the IRIS-T air defense system, or when the Air Force reports the first Russian aircraft that shot down air defense.
Patriot is capable of shooting down targets at a distance of up to 150 km, aerodynamic targets. Ballistics is less – 40 km. Therefore, we will be patient and wait for this news to be really already in Ukraine,” he added.
Warsaw also clarified that Polish Minister of Defense Mariusz Blaszczak, in an interview with the Spanish edition of La Razon, did not say that Ukraine had already received the Patriot air defense system. He only affirmed that the positive decision to transfer this air defense system to Kyiv was made thanks to the efforts of Poland. But his words were misunderstood.
They noted that the appearance in La Razon of a quote that Ukraine has already received a Patriot is obviously due to translation difficulties and an error.
