Poland is going to hand over ten Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine at the end of this week.
Four Leopards sent from Poland are already on the territory of Ukraine, ten more will be delivered at the end of this week, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said at a press conference.
The official also announced the launch of a service center in Poland: the Leopard 1 and Leopard 2 tanks sent to Ukraine will be repaired and serviced there.
I hope that my German colleague Boris Pistorius will convince the country’s industry to supply spare parts for the old Leopard tanks, which Poland has committed to supply to Ukraine, Blaszczak added.
Some European countries have united in the so-called “tank coalition”, which is going to transfer two battalions of Leopard tanks to Ukraine (that’s just over 60 vehicles). The military leadership of Poland announced plans to supply 14 tanks.
