From the beginning of the summer, the United States will start delivering liquefied natural gas to Bulgaria at affordable prices, which will allow the country to reduce its dependence on Russian gas.
From June, the US will supply liquefied natural gas to Bulgaria at prices lower than Gazprom. This agreement was reached at a meeting between Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov and US Vice President Kamala Harris in Washington. On Wednesday, May 11, the BGNES report.
It was noted that Vice President Kamala Harris congratulated Bulgaria on decisive action to protect its energy sovereignty. For his part, Prime Minister Petkov noted that cooperation between Sofia and Washington is an important part of achieving Bulgaria’s gas independence, along with EU unity.
Earlier, Prime Minister Kirill Petkov spoke with Secretary of State Anthony Blinken at the U.S. State Department. They discussed partnership opportunities with the US to diversify energy in Bulgaria and the region. Petkov and Blinken also discussed the modernization of Bulgaria’s military, as well as stability and development in the Western Balkans.
