High-precision weapons are capable of flying eight times faster than the speed of sound, the head of the Iranian General Staff emphasized.
Iran announced the creation of a hypersonic ballistic missile capable of destroying moving naval vessels. This was reported on March 7 by the Fars News agency.
According to the head of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Mohammed Bakiri, the missile tests were successful and Iran became one of three countries possessing such weapons.
He claims the missile’s speed is mach eight (eight times the speed of sound) and its range is 1,500 kilometers.
Bakiri emphasized that the presence of such a missile in the arsenal will allow Iran to create a security zone in the seas around the country with a radius of up to a thousand kilometers.
He did not give information about the place and time of the exams.
It will be recalled that in November last year, the commander of the Air Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, Emir Ali Hajizade, said that Iran had developed a new ballistic missile.
