It was reported that as a result of a large-scale special operation in Ochakovo, an agent of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, who was collecting intelligence to capture this city, was detained.
“Russian military intelligence set him the task of persuading the leadership of the city authorities to cooperate with the Russian troops. For this, the mayor of the city was offered to choose a position in the event of the capture of the southern region. However, he showed a patriotic position, informed the SBU about the recruitment attempts and contributed to the exposure of the enemy’s plans,” – said the message.
It was established that the GRU agent became a former commander of one of the centers of special operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who got a job in the Ochakiv City Council.
“After a massive raid, Russian military intelligence contacted the officer to conduct reconnaissance and subversive activities against Ukraine. It was established that he was in constant intelligence contact with a GRU personnel officer, Sergei Aleksandrovich Kolesnikov , born on July 31, 1971, a native of Ukraine. It was on his instructions that the officer secretly collected information about the places of deployment and movements of Defense Forces units involved in the protection of coastal area,” the SBU reported.
It is noted that he tried to use his connections with former military and current officials, and also developed his own extensive network of informants to collect and transmit intelligence to the aggressor.
“During searches of the enemy agent’s residential area, SBU officers discovered a secret telephone that he used for secret communication with the occupiers. In addition, thermal imagers and unregistered weapons some ammunition was seized,” the SBU press service reported. .
