The situation has reached a critical moment and it needs to be resolved through diplomacy, the head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry insisted.
The process of peace negotiations to resolve the situation in Ukraine must begin as soon as possible, because sanctions and pressure will not solve the problem. This was announced on March 7 by Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang at a press conference on the country’s foreign policy, CNN reports.
“The crisis in Ukraine has reached a critical moment. Either the fighting stops and peace is restored and the process of political settlement begins, or even more fuel is added to the fire, and the fighting is is expanding further and will lose control,” the Chinese Foreign Minister emphasized.
He noted that Beijing “is not a party to the conflict and has not supplied weapons to either side.”
“China always has its own opinion… Between war and peace, we chose peace; between sanctions and dialogue, we chose dialogue; between fanning the flames and lowering the temperature, we chose late,” added Gan.
It will be remembered that on February 24, Beijing presented a “peace plan” to resolve the war on the territory of Ukraine. The document provides for a ceasefire and peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.
In response to the initiative in the United States, they said that China may stop at the first point of the plan, especially respecting the sovereignty of all countries.
