Russia will continue to try to capture Bakhmut of the Donetsk region, because the Russians have no other options to get at least some significant success. This was announced on Monday, March 6, by the spokesman of the US State Department, Ned Price, writes Ukrinform.
At the same time, Price emphasized that the city for the Russians is not of great strategic importance.
“The Russian forces are eager to get it because they have no other options to achieve at least some victories on the battlefield,” he said.
Price noted that there will be tough days and confrontations ahead.
“And although the confrontation has somewhat decreased in the winter months, the fighting still continues, especially in the east and south,” said the State Department spokesperson and added that such dynamics will continue for some time.
Ukrainian border guards reported that they killed seven Russian invaders near Bakhmut in the Donetsk region.
Recall that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will continue to defend Bakhmut and strengthen positions in the city. This decision was made at today’s meeting of the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander.
