After the liberation of Kherson, the attackers hastily moved to Zhytomyr, the Security Service reports.
Law enforcement removed a network of underground casinos that financed Gauleiter Volodymyr Saldo during the occupation of Kherson. The Security Service of Ukraine reported this on its Facebook page on Monday, March 6.
“The organizers of the group illegally opened several casinos in Kherson shortly before the full invasion. During the temporary capture of the city, they continued to engage in illegal business. At the same time, part of the “profit ” received was transferred to cash under the leadership of the former local “administration”, which he headed,” the report said.
The invaders gave them “advantages” to engage in illegal business and free movement around the city.
After the liberation of Kherson, casino organizers hurriedly moved to Zhytomyr, after which they opened six more gambling establishments there, and then in Kyiv.
“Underground casinos are disguised as rented office space. Dozens of people who have worked for a criminal organization are engaged in their maintenance, setting up computer equipment and recruiting staff, ” said the SBU.
The six organizers of the criminal organization were charged with suspicion under two articles:
-
Creation, management of a criminal community or a criminal organization, as well as participation in it;
-
Illegal activity in organizing or conducting gambling, lotteries.
An investigation is currently underway to establish all the circumstances of the crimes and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for the three main defendants with the alternative of making bail in the amount of UAH 1.5 and 1.1 million, the rest are under house arrest.
It will be recalled that the SBU reported the betrayal of the former police chief of the Vinnytsia region. He was charged with preparing for the FSB a “plan” of terrorist attacks against civilians in Ukraine.
In addition, the SBU detained a Russian agent in Odessa who worked for the FSB in hopes of “getting” an apartment in Crimea.
