Dmitry Peskov did not give recommendations to Gazprom about the fate of damaged gas pipelines.
The fate of the two damaged Nord Stream offshore gas pipelines will be decided by Russian gas monopoly Gazprom and shareholders. This is what Kremlin speaker Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing on Monday, March 6.
So, answering a question from journalists about the future of Nord Streams, he advised to contact Gazprom, which is “a shareholder of this international project.”
“And, of course, this is a decision that must be made jointly by all shareholders – this is an international project,” Peskov stressed.
He also answered negatively to the question of whether there will be recommendations from the Kremlin to Gazprom in this regard. “First of all, you need to contact Gazprom,” he repeated.
Last week, Reuters reported, citing sources, that Russia decided to mothball the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, as there was no plan to repair and implement them.
Recall that on September 26, 2022, the pressure in three of the four gas pipelines dropped significantly in Nord Stream and Nord Stream-2. Russia called the incident sabotage.
In October, Sweden announced the completion of an investigation conducted jointly with Denmark and Germany. At the same time, the reason for the leaks in Sevpotok was named.
