Now Ukraine has fulfilled all seven recommendations of the European Union, which determined obtaining the status of a candidate, Denys Shmygal said.
The Cabinet of Ministers has appointed a new director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU). They became Semyon Krivonos. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmygal on Telegram on Monday, March 6.
“In just an extraordinary meeting, Semyon Krivonos was appointed head of the bureau. This process was preceded by a clear competition, following which the commission, which, in particular, was composed of international partners, recognized the three candidates for the position of NABU director,” he said.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Ukraine has now complied with all seven recommendations of the European Union, which are determined upon obtaining the status of a candidate.
“This shows our intention this year to move to the beginning of accession negotiations. By appointing the director of NABU, we also have a fully formed and independent anti-corruption infrastructure,” said Shmyhal.
It is known that since 2021 Semyon Krivonos has headed the State Inspectorate for Architecture and Urban Planning. At the same time, in 2016, he became the winner of the competition for the head of the Odessa territorial organization of NABU, but then he resigned.
Recall that in December 2022, the competition for the position of NABU director began. Initially, 74 applicants were selected.
