The enemy is constantly trying to carry out attacks, however, this does not mean that he will be able to surround Bakhmut in the near future, let alone capture the city.
The Russian invaders will not be able to surround or capture the city in the near future. The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported this in a summary for Saturday, March 4.
It was noted that the invaders on Saturday launched a limited attack and again failed.
“Ukrainian officials reiterated that Ukrainian forces are in control of the situation in Bakhmut, but noted that the situation is becoming more difficult, and that the Wagner PMC has deployed its advanced and trained elements to counter-insurgency operations. -attack in the area,” the ISW report said.
As experts emphasize, the fact that the enemy is constantly trying to carry out attacks does not mean that he can surround Bakhmut in the near future, let alone capture the city.
The institute suggests that the Russians may be aiming to surround Ukrainian forces in Bakhmut, but the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said they would rather give an order to withdraw than risk a siege.
ISW estimates that Ukrainian forces are more likely to retreat than to be encircled, and that the Ukrainians could still hold their positions in Bakhmut if they chose to try.
It was also noted that the Russian invaders were suffering heavy losses in the Bakhmut area.
Recall that on Saturday the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the fighting in Bakhmut is more than outside, and the city itself is controlled by the Ukrainian Defense Forces. There was also no mass withdrawal of Ukrainian troops, only a rotation.
As already reported, the commander of the Eastern Group of Forces, Colonel-General Alexander Syrsky, arrived in Bakhmut, Donetsk region.
