The first lady spoke about the enormous number of cases of sexual violence by the military of the Russian Federation and called on the world to condemn the rapists.
Law enforcement officials are investigating 171 cases of sexual violence against Ukrainians by the Russian military. This was announced on Saturday, March 4, by Olena Zelenska in her speech at the international forum United for Justice in Lviv.
He noted that this figure is not only women.
“Among the victims, there were 39 men, 13 were minors, including a boy. We know about these cases only because these people gained the strength to speak. We don’t know how many are suffering in silence, especially in the occupied territories,” said Zelenska.
He emphasized that the number of rapes of peaceful Ukrainians gives confidence that this is a conscious policy of the Russian army.
“This is their conscious psychological and physical weapon against the Ukrainians,” the first lady said.
He stressed that the guilty and rapists should be punished.
“And I am sure that not only the victims need it, the whole world needs it. Therefore, my next appeal to the democratic world. The condemnation of Russian violence and other Russian crimes is needed as a precedent . So that any potential aggressor, the rapist collective in the world knows that it goes unpunished,” he said.
According to the first lady, “we must liberate our land from the occupier, not only because we are striving to return to universally recognized borders.”
“This is a struggle not only for territory and square kilometers, we must liberate these lands, because there, in the occupied territories, rapists and looters still dominate,” Zelenskaya stressed, adding that while there the Russians, the violence continues.
Earlier, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin said that the Russian Federation uses sexual violence as a weapon.
