Ukraine will be a key topic in upcoming talks between US and German leaders. They will also discuss the Chinese issue.
The main topic of the talks between US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, which will be held on Friday, March 3 in Washington, is the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. This was announced in a briefing by White House Speaker Karine Jean-Pierre.
“Ukraine should be expected to be a major topic in the upcoming discussion at this meeting,” the White House spokesman said.
According to him, the summit of the US and German leaders will have a “working character” and will last about an hour in total.
In addition to the Ukrainian issue, according to him, the leaders of the two countries are likely to touch on a number of issues on the global agenda, including preparations for the upcoming NATO summit in July, as well as “a number of other challenges.” An important topic on tomorrow’s discussion agenda, as expected in the White House, is China.
“It is certainly possible that, in the context of the situation in Ukraine, the Chinese issue will also be raised. So far, we have not seen China helping Russia with weapons. However, obviously, we are closely monitoring this situation . every step China takes towards Russia, it becomes more and more difficult for it to cooperate with Europe and other countries around the world,” the official said.
Remember, Scholz previously said that Germany and its allies will help Ukraine achieve peace. However, the chancellor is skeptical about the chances of a quick settlement of the war through negotiations with the Russian Federation.
