The strip of Ukraine’s border with Belarus and Russia will be expanded to two kilometers in width. This territory is being replaced, a special regime will operate on it.
The border strip is usually 30-50 meters in all sections of the state border, and with Russia and Belarus this strip will be up to 2 km, – explained the representative of the State Border Service Andrei Demchenko on the air of the telethon.
According to him, in some places the strip may be less than two kilometers – it will depend on the landscape and the level of threat in a particular direction.
Land plots along this border strip are provided to the military units of the State Border Service in order to equip engineering, technical and defense facilities. This is being done to strengthen the control and defense of our state border in this area,” Demchenko noted.
On the territory of the two-kilometer strip, local residents will not be evicted, but they will issue special permits for movement and activities in these areas. The mechanism for issuing documents has not yet been worked out.
