Germany will send Ukraine two Skynex short-range air defense systems manufactured by Rheinmetall AG.
It is reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing Rheinmetall AG CEO Armin Papperger,
According to Papperger, the production of these two Skynex systems was ordered by the German government for about 200 million euros, they will arrive in Ukraine within a year.
Mr. Papperger, whose company is one of the main suppliers of the German armed forces, said that otherwise these systems would have been used to protect Berlin, the newspaper notes.
The Skynex complex is designed for short-range air defense. Still supplied by Germany to Ukraine, the Gepard anti-aircraft tank, this system shoots down attack drones and cruise missiles with 35mm ammunition. One of the advantages of Skynex is the relative cheapness of ammunition.
