Indexation of pensions will begin in Ukraine from March 1
This was announced today, February 28, at a government meeting by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmihal.
Pensions will rise by 20%. Indexation will affect 10.5 million pensioners, Shmigal noted. – Payments will also be increased for pensioners of law enforcement agencies. Moreover, pensions will also increase for citizens to whom they were assigned in 2020-2022.
The Prime Minister stressed that in the conditions of war, the state’s resources are limited, and defense financing remains a priority.
Therefore, it was decided that the maximum amount of the increase would be UAH 1.5 thousand. Whereas the minimum increase will be at least UAH 100 even if, according to the calculation, the indexation amount is less. It’s a fair balance, he said.
The government also continues the program of monthly additional payments:
- pensioners over 80 will receive an additional UAH 570 monthly;
- for pensioners aged 75-80 years, the additional payment will be 456 UAH;
- for pensioners aged 70-75, the monthly supplement will be 300 UAH.
From April 1, automatic recalculation of pensions for working pensioners will take place.
In the summer, indexation will affect retired scientists, civil servants, employees of local governments, the prime minister said.
