A self-audit of Ukrainian legislation for its compliance with European standards will take place.
The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution on the self-audit of Ukrainian legislation for its compliance with European standards. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Telegram on Tuesday, February 28.
“Exactly one year ago, on the fifth day of a full-scale war, Ukraine signed an application for membership in the European Union. During this time, we received candidate status, fulfilled two-thirds of the Association Agreement and received five visa-free travel with the EU.”
According to the prime minister, now it is important to conduct an accurate assessment of efforts. “For this, a resolution was adopted on the self-audit of Ukrainian legislation for its compliance with European standards,” said Shmyhal.
Until June 30, ministries and central executive authorities must carry out relevant work, and by August 30 submit a report to the government. It should contain specific proposals for the harmonization of sectoral legislation in accordance with EU law.
“Ukraine has the ambition to open membership negotiations this year and be ready to join the European Union in two years. So we are moving more towards our goal,” the head of the government.
Recall that President Volodymyr Zelensky said that this year it is time to start negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union.
