Consulting company director Vox Populi, Luis Benavente, referred to the attitude of Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) to the refusal to transfer the temporary chairmanship of the Pacific Alliance to Peru. With that in mind, he pointed out that this attitude would make Mexicans worry because they might even refuse to hand over the presidency to their country.
“López Obrador bases his assessment on issues that are not real, that are not true, with political misconceptions. He claims that former President Castillo was the victim of a coup d’état, which, as we know, is not true. And he calls Dina Boluarte’s succession fictitious and illegal, which is also wrong. (…). And that leads him to the diatribe against Boluarte, which in a sense means diatribe against Peru, very Chavez, Maduro, Castro style,” he told Amplification of RPP News.
“He went to the extreme of not handing over the secretariat pro tempore, which also shows an authoritarian streak because support for not handing over the secretariat is illegal and not true. And this is also beginning to worry the Mexicans today, because just as he does not hand over the presidency of the Pacific Alliance to Peru, one day he may not hand over the presidency of Mexicoespecially if in other forms of political behavior he resembles Castro, Chavez, Maduro with an authoritarian streak,” he added.
“Unlike Maduro, Chavez and Castro, who had this sense of connection to the message, they were tougher, tougher. AMLO is a little more welcoming, has a more smiling face, and is part of the popular connection, the message communication. He looks for topics that give him that connection: Castillo’s defense is a message for Mexicans.”, he asserted.
“Rejection will never help manageability”
Benavente also mentioned the low level of recognition of both President Dina Boluarte and the Congress of the Republic, and specified that the departure of any of the political actors would further aggravate the situation.
“The fall of Boluart, the dissolution of Congress, the nomination for the presidency could lead to even greater complications.. And there would also be a message that if the street doesn’t like something, then it just lights up, and what the street says is done in Peru, ”he said.
“Rejection will never help manageability. I think that the field of action is still not very large. The possibility of dialogue is difficult,” he concluded.
