The French Foreign Ministry said the adoption of the sixth package of EU sanctions against Russia, which includes an oil embargo, is just a few days away.
The imposition of Russia’s oil embargo by the European Union is “a matter of a few days.” This was stated by Secretary of State to the French Foreign Ministry Clement Bon on the air of local television.
“We have to act fast,” Bon said.
He expressed hope that the doubts of the Hungarian authorities on this subject could be overcome soon. At the same time, the diplomat said it was a “sensitive issue” for other countries – including Slovakia and Bulgaria.
“They are more dependent on oil from the Russian Federation than others in the EU,” Bon concludes.
The French Foreign Ministry also stressed that the adoption of the full sixth package of sanctions is expected in the coming days.
It was also reported that French President Emmanuel Macron will talk by phone with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to reach an agreement on new measures.
It will be recalled that the other day in Hungary they said that their position on the issue of Russia’s oil embargo remains unchanged.
Also yesterday, the German Foreign Ministry said the European Union would soon agree on a sixth package of sanctions against Russia.
