Poland told when Ukraine will receive the next batch of Leopard 2A4 tanks.
The head of the Office of the Prime Minister of Poland, Michal Dvorczyk, told the PAP news agency that the remaining promised tanks are planned to be handed over within a few weeks. According to him, this will happen after the completion of the training of Ukrainian tank crews in Poland.
When asked when the next 10 promised Leopard 2A4 tanks would be handed over, Dvorchik said:
Soon. The training of Ukrainian crews must be completed. Some of these tanks are now used in training … This is a prospect for several weeks, he said.
Dvorchik said that Warsaw would soon transfer its other tanks to Ukraine.
When asked when the promised Polish PT-91 tanks would arrive in Ukraine, he said that their transfer, along with the T-72, was also a matter of weeks, “if not sooner.”
They are practically in the process of being transferred, so they will soon be in Ukraine,” added Dvorchik.
The RT-91 Twardy is a Polish main battle tank developed under license from the Soviet T-72M1. The first prototypes were made in 1993, and the basic version was mass-produced at the Bumar-Łabędy plant until 2002.
Recall that last Friday, on the anniversary of the Russian full-scale invasion, Poland handed over to Ukraine the first batch of four Leopard 2 tanks.
