The representative of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuri Ignat, said that the damage to the Russian A-50 reconnaissance aircraft at the Machulishchi airfield in Belarus is good news for Ukraine. He said this on the air of the national telethon.
According to Ignat, Russia has about nine reconnaissance aircraft.
This aircraft performs radar reconnaissance of the territory, checks the formation of air defense systems and identifies their location, monitors the departure, landing and direction of movement of the Ukrainian aviation. The aircraft also accompanied attacks with cruise missiles on the territory of Ukraine.
“These aircraft are very important for conducting battles, and Ukraine also wants to have such aircraft, which will also provide for the actions of our aviation and reconnaissance,” said Ignat.
Recall that on February 26, two explosions occurred at the Belarusian military airfield Machulishchi, located 12 kilometers from Minsk, as a result of which a Russian military aircraft and snow removal equipment were damaged.
According to media reports, the sabotage in Machulishchi was staged by Belarusian partisans.
The Russian authorities did not comment on the information about the attack on the military airport near Minsk.
