In the summer, expect “difficulties” with Crimea’s transport accessibility. It has already reduced tour bookings by 70%.
Crimea, temporarily occupied by Russian troops, will face a difficult tourist season this year. This was said by the President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT), Ilya Umansky, Interfax reported on Monday, February 27.
According to him, “difficulties” in the transport accessibility of Crimea are expected in the summer. It has already reduced tour bookings by 70%.
“Most tourists come to Crimea from Krasnodar Territory, Stavropol Territory, Rostov Region. Or the Crimeans themselves have a break. As for the summer, I still expect that there will be some kind of tourist flow. Maybe we should count on occupying the hotel by about 50% “, – said Umansky.
He admitted that the Crimean tourism industry is in a “predicament” because the next high season will not hold as many “tourists” as one might expect.
Umansky believes that now it is necessary to prepare support measures, in particular, state subsidies for Crimean businesses.
Remember that in 2022 in Crimea, they repeatedly announced the failure of the tourist season. Russians refuse to travel to Crimea. And in August, after the shelling, many Russians fled to Crimea. At the same time, the authorities occupying Crimea still reported about more than 6 million tourists.
