New tremors occurred in Turkey on Monday, February 27.
An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 was recorded in the province of Malatya in the southeast of the country. At least 25 houses were destroyed. It is preliminary known about one dead and 69 injured. Rescuers are working at the scene, local residents are asked not to enter the affected buildings due to the threat of collapse. It is reported by Anadolu.
The Office for the Prevention and Elimination of Consequences of Emergency Situations (AFAD) noted that the tremors occurred at 12:04, and the epicenter was located in the Yesilutr area.
Recall that today’s earthquake is the third after the strongest aftershocks on February 6, when the southeast of Turkey and nearby areas of Syria stirred up aftershocks of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6. Then more than 50 thousand people in the two countries became victims of the natural disaster.
